Nakhon Sawan Epoxy FRP Crossing Project, Thailand

After the completion of the FRP curing and maintenance works for this crossing project, insulation resistance testing was conducted on the anti-corrosion coating of the crossing pipeline section. The measured insulation resistance exceeded 5000 Ω·m, meeting the qualified grade standard.

Project Introduction

The outer diameter of the crossing pipelines in this project is Φ711 mm. There are three separate crossing sections with lengths of 670 m, 330 m and 990 m respectively. The crossing zone consists of granite strata, and preliminary surveys show the rock hardness of the crossing sections exceeds 150 MPa, resulting in extremely harsh crossing conditions.

Accordingly, the main anti-corrosion coating of the crossing pipes was designed as reinforced-grade 3PE with a coating thickness of 4 mm. However, pull-back test results indicated that this coating grade failed to meet safety requirements, necessitating special outer protection for the anti-corrosion layer. For this purpose, our company’s special modified epoxy FRP products were adopted.
