CT563 Metal Repair Stick

CT563 Metal Repair Stick

CT563 is a two-component steel-filled epoxy adhesive. It is an ideal solution for repairing metal components damaged by mechanical wear and/or corrosion. It can be applied like putty and delivers high compressive strength as well as excellent adhesion to most surfaces after curing. Typical applications include stopping leaks in pipelines and storage tanks, filling oversized bolt holes, smoothing weld seams, and repairing non-structural defects in cast tank bores.

Features

  • Cures underwater with excellent adhesion to most damp surfaces
It can cure and take shape directly underwater and features outstanding compatibility with wet substrates. It maintains strong bonding force on damp surfaces to meet emergency repair demands under water-bearing and humid working conditions.
  • Excellent adhesion to most clean surfaces
It delivers strong adhesion on clean substrates with tight bonding, ensuring firm repairs that are not prone to peeling off.
  • Fast repair within 10 minutes
Easy to apply and fast-curing. Rapid repair can be finished in only 10 minutes without complicated procedures or long waiting time. It fixes equipment defects efficiently and minimizes equipment downtime to the greatest extent.
  • The epoxy repair stick can be applied like putty and forms a metal-like surface after curing
Simple to operate, it can be directly spread and shaped just like putty for easy construction and trimming. After curing, it forms a dense, smooth metal-like surface with high substrate conformity, and the overall texture of the repaired part is highly consistent with the original metal base.

Application Method

Surface Preparation

Proper surface preparation is critical to the long-term performance of this product. Exact requirements vary depending on service severity, expected service life and the initial substrate condition.

1. Cleaning & Contaminant Removal: Grind with sandpaper or grinding wheel to eliminate rust, oil stains and old coatings.

2. Roughening: Grind or blast the surface to boost adhesion.

3. Drying: Keep the surface as dry as possible. Application is feasible under damp or underwater conditions, yet the final strength will decrease.

4. Temperature Control: Substrate temperature shall not exceed 66°C (150°F)

Mixing (Gloves Must Be Worn)

1. Cut off the required length and peel off the plastic film on the cut end.

2. Twist the repair stick first to form spiral streaks of grey resin and black hardener.

3. Knead repeatedly for 2–3 minutes until the mixture turns uniform metallic black.

4. Working Time: Only around 3 minutes after mixing; apply promptly.

Application & Shaping

1. Press the compound firmly onto the repair area to fully fill holes, cracks and defects.

2. Smooth the surface with a scraper or water-wetted gloves; wet hands or damp cloth can deliver a finer finish.

3.The compound can be shaped, filled and bonded, forming a metal-like texture after curing. Blast all surfaces with sharp-edged abrasives to a profile depth of 75–100 μm, reaching near-white metal cleanliness grade (SIS Sa 2½ / SSPC-SP 10).

General Application Notes

1. Notice: Do not apply on surfaces with temperature exceeding 66°C (150°F).

2. Optimal bonding strength is obtained on clean and dry surfaces. The product works on damp surfaces but with reduced bond strength.

3.Clean and roughened surfaces are mandatory to achieve maximum adhesion strength.

4. Wear gloves; never mix the repair stick with bare hands.

5. Cut the required material from the stick and remove the transparent plastic wrapper from the cut section.

6. For mixing: First twist the material to interlace resin and hardener into spirals, then knead for 2–3 minutes until uniform color is achieved.

7. Press firmly for patching, repairing or bonding works.

8. Smooth the molded surface with water-dampened fingers or cloth for a sleek finish.

Precautions

1.This product is not suitable for use in pure oxygen or oxygen-enriched environments, and shall not be used as a sealing material for chlorine gas or other strong oxidizing substances.

2.Refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for safety handling information of this product.

3.Store at room temperature in a cool and dry place.
